Right guys I need some to be swayed one way or the other.

Ok so i currently have 2 Radeon HD7970s but ive been seriously considering selling them and getting a Titan.

I game at 1440p so both solutions are more than acceptable, but im not happy with the noise the 7970s make. I just wanna know what you guys think.

Even two 680s with 4 GB dont do the job for me at 1440p 120Hz. I am going for a Titan/780 for sure in a few weeks.

Personal Build Project "Rained-On"

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)

There's that whole issue with crossfire configs and micro stuttering right now isnt there?

Micro-stuttering is a problem but it is getting better, they have prototype drivers out that make it much much better, not worth a titan though giving up those two cards. Noise can just be water-cooled or get headphones. :)

just watercool them if your worried about noise

I have a Fractal Design Define Mini so there isnt really any space for the rads, and i have no plans to change to a larger case as i prefer SFF builds.

Also the whole micro stutter thing hasn't really bothered me that much.

So you/you're, indifferent to performance, annoyed at the noise of the 7970s, but cant fit rads, and dont want to get a bigger case.

Hmmmmm, tough one.

I'm just a soul who is up to no good.

not sure but it looks like you could fit a thick 240/280 in the front and maybe a 120/140 rad in the back??

When you put it like that it seems simple

Judging from the quick research ive done it looks doable actually.

Guess im gonna have to just price up building a loop vs selling the cards and switching and see what offers better value.

Keep the 7970's.

I dont think you will gain that much performance out of the Titan as opposed to the 7970's.

gain much lol he would lose much performance.

120Hz 1440p pannel?

What monitor do you have. Ive not heard of any being run that fast before.

I think your correct as I to have not heard of 120Hz 2560x1440 monitors and I also am pretty sure that HDMI and Dual Link DVI and Display Port lack the banwidth to accommodate such high resolution and framerate throughput.

Yamakasi Catleap Q270B overclock edition

its basically one of those cheap a- ips panels from southkorea, but this one has a special pcb inside, so you can overclock it to 120 hz.

Well good luck getting modern games to run @ 120fps min on that thing lol. Plus again I don't thin that HDMI, Dual link DVI or DP can offer the bandwidth needed for that much information.

dual 680s 4GB can run bf3 on ultra with around 110 FPS at 1440p. DVI-I Dual can deliver up to 1600p at 120Hz, just works fine.

Display Port can. I don't think the Catleap has DP though.

Keep your cards and change the coolers for them to be more quiet. If you want to be extravagant, you could always try the Swiftech universal GPU waterblock with heatsink for other components. With the fans, it comes to $100 cooling solution per GPU, not to mention other water cooling components. It will look awesome perform awesome, and cost a lot less than a Titan.

110 is not 120fps. BF3 is not reall hard to run though as it is well optimized.
