Thoughts on Odd Pieces?

CPotter

I hope everyone is having a great week. Have any of you had experience with https://oddpieces.com/?

Seems to be very few reviews of them on youtube. None of the puzzle youtubers I watch have done anything with them. Everything online seems to be their own promotional stuff and any "reviews" I can find are just reviewing the kickstarter. (However, those reviews are positive... at least?)

That said, they already have a product out on amazon (which is further than most kickstarters get), (and it's super cheap) so why not just buy one and try it? I mean, it's a puzzle, so long as it goes together I can't really think of anything that'd be wrong with it.

Oh boy, you didn’t get 1499 pieces with your 1500 piece puzzle before huh?

I looked them up and some of their designs are just up my alley, too bad they don’t ship my way.

True enough, but "having all the pieces" is a prerequisite for a puzzle being a "good" puzzle. lol

Is that a thing they do? Purposefully skip a piece? If so, I have a white elephant thing coming up for christmas...

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Never heard of them, but I think you just crossed one name off my Christmas shopping list because this kind of thing sounds right up their alley!

As long as the pieces aren't stamped out of thin cereal box cardboard, it's kind of hard to screw up a jigsaw puzzle. The biggest variable is in the art, which you can judge from their site. (What I saw looks professional, like they have comic illustrators and career webcomic cartoonists on board.)

I think they're using Kickstarter as more of a "pre-sale", like the Screwdriver and Backpack. It's "help us raise the capital to get production going on our next thing", not "help us fundraise enough to bring this project to fruition". I've backed a few of those campaigns; they're far less likely to disappear with the money.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
