Good afternoon,

Im looking to make use of my 8GB Pi 4 and I am looking to find some fast storage for it. Does anyone have recommendation on fast microSD for booting and then What the best bang for the buck 3.5inch drives and 2.5 drives would be? Im using a Argon EON case which will support 2 3.5in drives and 2 2.5 in drives and I plan on using open media vault on raspberry pi lite. Any advice/ options would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB SL 3600mhz GPU: RTX 3060TI SSD: WD Black 1TB NVME SDD: WD Black 500GB NVME

from testing a WIDE range of SD cards on my pi4.. it doesnt make the damndest difference what you get.

as for bang for the buck drives.. are you expecting any sort of performance out of this, and what sort of capacity are you hoping to get?

So honestly since it's no using any sort of raid setup or anything I thought about grabbing a couple refurbished 18 TB 3.5s and 2 4TB SSDs for it but I dunno if that makes any sense. I used to have a server and rack that I was using truenas I ended up selling it a while back.

Honestly really gonna make a plex server and that's probably it, maybe qbittorrent on it as well

I do have mine running a raid for a 3 2 1 backup target and I have my drives in an orico 5 bay external enclosure with a Samsung pro 256 gb micro SD.

So far it has been running great with zfs after disabling usb auto sleep.

This is all great news. I am still deciding if I really need a NAS...my desktop has 10TB of NVME storage and everything else has like 1TB SSDs in them but really no backup solution. I know I should be backing up my PCs but im pretty lazy about it lol. I actually do not know if I will be setting up a plex server because I did find a service that is EMBY + IPTV for roughly $30 per month so it may save me from needing to store my own media... I may end up just selling the pi and the argon case but I dunno
