Cpu locked to 800mhz

Go to solution Solved by unclewebb,

@lemmy37.xX

Try checking the MMIO Lock box which is near the top right of the TPL window. Push OK and see if that makes any difference. If you are still locked to 800 MHz, try checking the Speed Shift box in the TPL window.

Your turbo ratios in the FIVR window are lower than the default values. Did you change this in the BIOS on purpose? Push the Defaults button in the FIVR window to reset the turbo ratios to their default values.

Set IccMax in the FIVR window to the max, 255.75 for both the core and the cache.

Uninstall any MSI Control software if you are using that.

I have been having an issue where my cpu keeps getting locked to 800mhz when in windows. Ive walked through the windows help page for a similar issue. ive changed my power plans, update the bios and drivers, ensured certain intel technologies are enabled in the bios, and ensured all the plugs are still in the motherboard, but it still persists. Any ideas?

I did have a power cut the other day, could that have caused something?

I have:

Windows 11

i7 10700k

Asus z490 prime-a motherboard

32gb corsair vengance 3600mhz

Rtx 4070 ti

Msi A850G PSU

Any other information i can give if needed.

What about under load? What are the clocks and temp doing when running any sort of load?

I know you said you already checked, but it really seems like your PC is set to some super-Eco mode. The CPU is only pulling back 10W. Had you attempted to fully clear BIOS via CMOS battery?

Run ThrottleStop 9.6

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlestop/

Open the Limit Reasons window. Is BD PROCHOT red? If it is, clear the BD PROCHOT box on the main screen.

The CPU getting locked to its minimum speed is a common problem when a sensor on the motherboard fails. A power surge might have caused this.

Post ThrottleStop screenshots if you need help.

The default turbo ratios that the BIOS is using are way too low. Are you using the most recent BIOS version?

Push the Defaults button in the ThrottleStop FIVR window to make your CPU run at its rated speed and change PL1 from 125 to 250 in the TPL window. The 125W default PL1 power limit is way too low for a 10th Gen K series CPU.
