Haswell is the Codename for the new Intel CPU generation. There are no major differences, much like from Sandy-Bridge to Ivy-Bridge, it is not a change in architecture, physically its just a dye shrink. So less power consumption and heat output. It brings a new socket, 1150. Which causes customers to need to buy new mainboards. And, of course, there is no confirmation yet on the features, but some leaked pictures indicate that it will have native support for 6 sata 3 ports, more pcie bandwidth, higher supported memory speeds, power saving modes and so on.

Yes, you are right.

Some of the expected features and such of haswell are outlined on a wiki article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_(microarchitecture)

They are expecting around a 10% performance boost, with much better thermals i believe.

I'm just a soul who is up to no good.

There are differences in power delivery system, suposed to be easier to overclock even on cheaper boards. As allways with new generation it is going to be about 5 to 10% more effficient in general. I don't know for sure, but Intel might go with more expenive IHS system this time, since Ivy-Bridge had cheapo IHS thermalcompound, some units had major cooling problems, and required opening IHS and applying custom thermal interface.

But I'm sure there are people here, that can give You more detailed information, so let's hear from them!

I'm guessing "IHS" means Internal Cooling System?

Its the thermal compound inside the cpu. Ivy Bridge cpus were hot when overclocked because they had bad thermal paste. Hope Haswell gets better quality thermal paste in order to make this cpu more overclockable.

Yes, Haswell is indeed the next generation of Intel CPUs. Unlike the change from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge, which was mostly just a die shrink (basically SB is made with the 32nm process and IB is made with the 22nm proces), the change from IB to Haswell is a complete architectural redesign. (and Haswell will still be made with the 22nm process)

The major differences include a significantly faster integrated GPU, drastically lower idle power consumption, a different socket (1150 instead of 1155), on-chip VRM (voltage regulation module), as well as differences in overclocking (you will actually be able to change the base clock by more than a few MHz because the rest of the system doesn't depend on it for bus speeds anymore, so it won't cause stability issues like bclk alteration did with SB/IB).

Here's an article on AnandTech that goes into great depth about Haswell. It's a bit long and complicated at times but worth reading.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6355/intels-haswell-architecture

As far as I've seen Haswell isn't going to give any noticeable increase in clock-per-clock performance over IB, but I would venture a guess that it will allow for higher overclocking, thus better performance in the end, but that's just speculation on my part.

Haswell is Intel's upcoming architecture & so far it's been a complete flop for the enthusiast.

It may not be great news to the enthusiast but Haswell is mainly targeted at mobile platforms due to its power efficiency. For those using mobile devices, a large number of them put performance second to battery life.
