Cant remove CPU cooler bracket

I am currently upgrading a cpu on an old msi X58 pro (Mobo I use bc broke) and I can't seem to find a way to remove the cpu cooler bracket  and there seem to be some sort of pin I've never seen before

I also somehow unscrewed the Cpu bracket SO that's cool I am a beginner builder help would be appreciated greatly

Looking at the pictures, the picture on the left shows that particular device does NOT unscrew.  To remove it, what I have found is to use a pair of needle nose plyers and just squeeze those two tips together and just pull it out.  Most usually for me anyway, it takes a couple of tries before I can get them out, just have to squeeze them together until the gap is closed.  You could also try cutting off the end shown in the picture with a hot tipped knife or something similar.  That may be easier to try than squeezing them together.
