Steam Deck OLED

Valve just posted on YT and on the Steam Deck site that they are launching an OLED version with a bigger battery, lower temps, Wifi 6E and a OLED screen.

 

 

I love this and if it weren't for the fact that I already have a deck I would for sure get this version for the improved battery life alone.

Interesting. I'd have liked to see hall effect joysticks but I guess you can't have everything.

I find it pretty amusing they bothered to put 30g weight savings in there under the picture of a feather. Thing weighs north of 650g

Man this is such a cool annoucement, as a deck daily driver I've always prioritized battery life over graphical fidelity. Usually prioritizing 30 to 40 frames and low settings to achieve a minimum of 3 hours in modern AAA games. To me as long as it looks decent enough and more importantantly it's playable I'm good to go. Now that the processor is smaller and more efficient in combination with a larger battery, it's like a dream come true. I just bought another deck for my son before the announcement but if I hadn't I would have just given him mine and bought one of these for myself.
