Hello everyone

I recently purchased a new Motherboard, CPU and cooler - MSI MAG X570s Torpedo MAX, AMD 5900x plus a deepcool air cooler. Am reusing RAM, GFX, SSD, HDD + PSU

But I am getting 3 beeps upon startup, before POST beep. It then boots and seems to be running fine.

Having googled a fair bit, I have had conflicting information. Either it was RAM problems or GFX issues !

Too this end here is what I have tried,

Re seating GPU, trying 2nd PCIe slot, another GPU, 1 stick of RAM, however the problem still appears.

Could any of my old components be causing the problem ?

RAM - Corsair Vengeance LMX 300mhz x2 16GB sticks

GPU - RTX 3080Ti

SSD - Samsung 960 Pro 512GB

HDD - 1 8TB + 1 4TB ( Think they are Seagates )

PSU - EVGA 1000W  Super Nova G2 Modular - 9 yrs OLD !! ( I KNOW )

BIOS version E7D54AMS-A40

Windows 11 Pro

Hoping that someone could assist

Mrp

Weird

Does your board have some LED lights for failure ? (usually X570 boards have)

Hi.

Just a small update. After updating the bios, I ran memtest and the memory passed. One thing I can now rule out.

As for the LED lights they go through all 4 then go out.

I am now going to install the memory back into the optimal slots and test further as the motherboard may have a dual channel issue.

Edit.

One thing I didnt mention in the original post was that the issue didnt happen on every boot.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi

Its been a couple of weeks, and I thought that the BIOS update had solved this issue.

However, when I booted up this morning the 3 beeps are back.

Any ideas guys ?

One thing I should add is that the motherboard has 2 CPU Pwr headers, one eight pin plus a four pin, but the PSU only has 1 x 8 pin connector !

I thought that if I wasnt overclocking then it would be ok ?

Could it be the PSU ?

Also there are no beep codes listed in the manual

Thanks for reading
