Hello all! Im looking to install a Home lab in the next few weeks. My current setup will include

  1. A POE Switch 24-36 ports still to be determined.
  2. A Fiber Modem to run my internet from the Provider(2 GIG!)
  3. Patch Panel
  4. A VM Machine to *Hopefully* test out some small simple programs, as well as host some fun services - This VM is a Dell with Dual Xenon in it I was gifted from a Friend
  5. A Firewall
  6. My Security Camera system, all running POE and on a dedicated Storage Device
  7. A Long-term Storage on Old School HDD for Family Videos & Photos - Going to partition off parts for the family to use as well.

Any other fun or cool things you could suggest?

Oh and of course a UPS system or 2 once I have it all plugged in.

Im looking at Ubiqity for the cameras as well as the Modem & Wifi for the house. Im open to suggestions as this is all new.

I will be running Cat 6 Cable through my house prior to installation so I have Ethernet in every room as well as dedicated ethernet for all of the Cameras.

Thank you all for your time and suggestions!
