The View From Cascade Lake.... ahhhh !!!

By 5:30pm the CPU I've been waiting for since mid last month arrived. An Intel Core i9 10920x LGA 2066 CPU. I got it used off eBay from Texas. The motherboard I also got used from eBay, an ASUS ROG Strix x299-E Gaming II unit.

It was time to do a long awaited platform upgrade.

Upgraded the motherboard and CPU from an ASUS x99 Deluxe II mobo and an Intel Core i7 6850k LGA 2011 v3 CPU. Those may make it to my living room PC eventually

Future plans are to Get new Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM, 3600 MHz speed likely. Also a PSU in the 1200 Watt range. Likely a Corsair HX or RM offering. Both components I have installed are fine, but slow RAM and older PSU. They are fine for now.

 

Tested the system before I buttoned it up. I just did a mobo and cpu swap, with reusing the same OS as before.

Cinebench R23 gave out a score of 14931 points for stock settings. I'll play with it later and see what mild clocks I can get....
