CPU : Ryzen 5 2600 (With stock cooler)
GPU : RX 6600 (MSI Mech 2x)
PSU : BeQuiet System power 9 400w
MOBO : Asus TUF b450 plus ii
STORAGE : 1x M.2 SN550 , 1x 870 evo
RAM : Patriot 2x8 DDR4 2133

Hello , I recently got a used RX 6600 to replace my aging 1050 ti . I have only gained a bit of fps on some titles even though its oc'ed , and on games like War thunder and Squad I sometimes , at random ,
get massive lag spikes that get me (war thunder from 115-150 fps to 20)(squad from 50 fps to 10) for a solid 5-15 seconds
I have resulted into seeking what the cause is .
I had a pretty cheap motherboard and I thought that was the culprit of my poor fps , so I replaced it with a better one , I did see a performance increase but not that much and the issue with the fps drops continued.
Now im thinking its the Cpu , but the problem is that Its not maxing out , just going up to 50%-80% .
I have also caught that my gpu's memory is almost always full when I play squad or Escape from tarkov
And that my RAM is running at 90%-95%
Lastly , all my drivers are updated ,
SSD has been formatted ,
tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games ,
FSR doesnt give me any fps no matter the setting i place it on ,
resizable bar is not enabled ,
I play tarkov and squad on the lowest settings to keep them playable
and lastly I always end task other processes such as ( google chrome , spotify etc ) when I play these demanding games.

when you installed the 6600, did you use DDU to uninstall the old Nvidia drivers?

If not, go to the useful software thread and download and install DDU. Then use it to unistall all graphics drivers (AMD and NVidia). After this reinstall the AMD drivers for your 6600.

Common build advice:

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.

as I just had a similar issue - do you run the GPU via a riser? my issue was that the new GPU was not 100% compatible to the riser resulting in serveral issues such as massive framedrops. @Tsokerinos

Nope , on the pci slot directly , had the same issue with both of the motherboards . Its a 16x gen 3 slot but the gpu runs on 8x gen 3

2600 isnt good enough to power this gpu

thats also why lowering settings / fsr / etc doesn't do anything

the psu seems also a tad weak btw.

cant say much about the ram situation,  but that seems almost irrelevant, considering.
