Hello.

I am going to be building my very own PC within the next month or so and I have been picking through some parts already. My main concern is the graphics card as I believe I have everything set out already, but of course that may change. I have been looking at two GPUs. The GTX 760 and RP 270X, both of which are the ASUS DirectCU II OC editions I believe. Now, I have a few questions.

  • Out of the two, which one is worth purchasing?
  • Are the ASUS DirectCU II editions good and reliable?
  • Is there any other cards around the price range of the 760 and R9 270X that would be worth my while looking at?

I appreciate all the answers. Thanks in advance.

-- GTX 760 is faster. So, you make up your mind.

-- Yes. They are some of the best cards out there.

-- You may want to look into the Radeon R9 280. It's a pretty good card, and comes with 3 free games.

r9 280 is another good option for just a little over the 760, and i'd recommend going with sapphire or msi if you buy amd cards, but the asus is still great.

Any of the cards are good enough int their price range. It's now only a matter of your preference regarding their unique features (nvidia vs amd).

With the recent price drop of AMD GPU's, I'd say an R9 280 would be a very good price/performance card to get. It's in the GTX760 price range but is faster than the GTX760.

And by R9 280, do you mean the standard 280 or 280x?

I'm an AMD fanboy, and I'm very familiar and very specific about AMD cards, if I had meant the R9 280X, I'd have said so. I meant the 9 280 (Non-X) which is priced at about the GTX760 price range.

1) the two are so good and performs nearly the same but amd is cheaper

2) asus are good cards but i prefer toxic version from sapphire for amd and msi for nvida

3) idk why you're going with 2 gpus if u have tht budget u can go with single gpu which is more stable Nvidia GTX780 or AMD R9 290 (non x) they're at the same price of  2*760 or 2*r9 270x and performs the same offering u upgradibility in the future: u can just cross fire/ SLI them to boost performance

I'm not going for 2 GPUs. I meant to say is there any other cards to look at purchasing instead of the two I listed in the original post.

I'm running the GTX-760, and not very pleased. But I could just have a bad apple. Although, over the past several months, I have read countless posts around the web of people having the same issues with the GTX-760 as me (blackouts).

A single powerful card like an R9 290 or GTX780 class and higher, since they fall within the two R9 280/GTX760 price range. Always go with a single solution first, then, somewhere down the road when you feel you need a little more GPU grunt, score a second card for CF/SLi goodness.
