I'm trying to setup an ambient lighting project behind my main monitor with a project called Hyperion. it needs a copy of the images on my screen for it know what colors to display behind my monitor. The main way to do this is with a USB capture card, i was wondering if i can use like a $15 one off amazon without passthrough and mirror my display, I'm assuming that it won't support 1440p 175hz, which is what my main monitor is, will this be possible or will it drop my primary monitor to 1080 30 or what ever the capture card supports.

Also will mirroring a display give me a performance hit, i don't think it should but i also don't know.

If it matters I have a 3070 ti and a Ryzen 3rd Gen.

ps. If anyone has used hyperion lmk how it went.
