I have about 250$ to spend on a new gpu. Mainly for gaming (star citizen, borderlands 2, and some next gen games).

preferably amd but nvidia is fine.

i was thinking r9 270, from what i've seen X doesn't do much, but i am not totally sure.

also some manufacturer advice would be great, because some are so much more expensive.

I would like some Advice on what to get.

I do live in canada. so price are different .

@TheEpicMap Well keep an eye out for maybe a price drop on a good graphics card sale from NCIX & other store for deals. Will you be playing all games @1080p(presets like textures, aa on medium if not high)?

lol :) ermm..you gotta use my username, that is my member title. :P

Would you consider paying more if you could gain better performance & cooling? I'd probably get a GTX 760, the GTX770 or equivalent 280X is about atleast $50+CND more which is out of your budget. Not sure what your currently running in your desktop or laptop but please do share if possible.

Got it.

It looks like from a bunch of bench marks that i have seen that r9 270 is barely less performance than 760, and the 270 is about 50$ cheaper.

I am currently running a radeon 7770.

Well I would consider in your place to save up for a 770/280(x) they're still pretty good video cards or pay for it now from ebay maybe pristine or second hand.
