I am trying to find out which laptop has the better cooling. I know the Gigabyte laptop has the better gpu but I care more about how cool it will run because I tend to use my laptop on my bed sometimes. If anyone has any experience with either of these laptops I'd appreciate your input. Below are links to both computer.

Gigabyte: https://www.newegg.com/p/2WC-000Z-01EU4?Item=9SIADFRK582166

ASUS TUF: https://www.newegg.com/p/2WC-000N-0DZU4?Item=9SIA5WMK162811

Also, both laptops are Refurbs because laptop prices are stupid.

im not a spec expert, but cooling makes no difference when you cover the bottom vents with your sheets/blanket. If that is the major concern, you should get some kind of laptop stand that will get the vents up off of the bed itself separately from choosing the best laptop for your budget

I would guess the ASUS will be a little cooler. It has two nicely-sized vents on the back, and more importantly, it's running a 4600H as opposed to a beefcake mobile i7.

As a practical matter, laptops draw in cool air from the bottom. If the bottom of the laptop is sinking into sheets, that airflow is gone, and your laptop will overheat no matter what. If you are going to use your laptop in bed, consider investing $10 into one of those laptop cooling pads. Even without the fans on, the cooling pads keep the laptop's intake vents far enough above the sheets that you won't have an issue with airflow being choked off.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

In price range of the other two and significantly better specs

It's nice but only 8GB of RAM turns me away. I think 16 is definitely a minimum these days, even for low end.

For about $30 you can put in another dimm, worth it in my eye, but if you want a "never have to tough it" that's totally fine.
