Windows Update Issue

Go to solution Solved by TheLANguy,

I ended up downloading the Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft's website and keeping files. Worked fine, no problems since. (Just had to debloat)

https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

I have been using Windows and deploying machines for a long time but have never had this issue before!

Of course it had to be on my main laptop (HP Pavilion 15-cs2073cl) running Windows 11. 😂

When I restart and attempt to install KB5029263, I receive the "We couldn't install complete the updates undoing changes" error.

Then I went into the installed "Update History" section and it's already installed!

How can I stop Windows Update from trying to stop trying to download it? (Going back to Windows 10 is not the answer I am looking for.)

I have already tried:

- Restarting the Windows Update service and Background intelligence service

-Using the useless Windows update troubleshooter

-Running the system file checker

-Tried installation assistant

Thank you for any help!

Update:

-Ran Windows update troubleshooter again

-Reset Windows Update files using CMD

This allowed me to install KB5029263, properly. However the issue returns when I try to install KB5031354 the same, "We couldn't complete the updates undoing changes" error comes back, and it shows it has already been installed!

To resolve this I tried:

-The Windows Update troubleshooter

-Directly installing the update

-Resetting Windows Update files using CMD

-Restarting the Windows Update service and other related services

Windows 11 sure is a pain. That's why on my main PC I daily drive Win7 and most businesses use Win10.

Update 3:

Uninstalling the update forcefully over CMD lets the update install without issue, but after that, Windows still tries to install it again.

Update 4:

I was able to install KB5031354 and a few other updates, but now KB5033375 does not install and gives the "We couldn't complete the updates undoing changes" error. This leads me to think that there is something on my end preventing the install.

I see a bunch of ETL files but opening them in Notepad and Notepad ++ is useless.

Oh! You would use PerfView to view those.
