Corsair 450D Mod Help

I'm thinking of buying a Corsair 450D but the only thing that I'd like to change is removing the 5.25" flex bay housing, to make room for a large water reservoir.

Does anyone have one of these cases and know if it's possible or even be able to upload some photos of the joins, rivets or anything else that could help?

I'm willing to drill out rivets and cut to a lesser extent depending on the amount of work involved.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'm ordering one sometime this week and I'm going to do a bit of modding. Including removing the 5,25" bays. So if you haven't got an answer in 1,5 week or so feel free to remind me and I'll try to upload a couple of pictures for yo.

The drive cage is pretty easy to remove, about half a dozen rivets to drill out.

Do you know if the metal behind it, (the metal thats being covered by the mounting points of the bay) is painted?

I highly doubt it's painted, since they like to assembly things whole and send it off to paint at one go, I have a 650D I took the drives bays out of and it wasn't painted behind the overlapping metal.

Hmmm okay, thank you.

I'm thinking about mounting my psu in that part. I hope it covers the ugly spots then :)

  • 1 month later...

Sorry I never replied to this as I never got notifications and I totally forgot about this post. Thanks for the help and photo.

I ended up using a different case as I found the Corsair Carbide 540 Air met my needs perfectly and was available without posting from interstate or overseas at the time.

It looks as if it would have been not much trouble to remove it either and I may have waiting but my new case makes my water loop much easier to do super clean :/
