so what happens if your psu isn't good enough?

running a psu that is not rated for your hardware can cause a number of problems. If it is close then you can get weird unexplainable issues that are impossible to track down. A bigger difference should just cause the PC to shut down whenever it draws to much power. A cheap poorly built PSU will just set your PC on fire. Running it like this for a long time can cause damage to components under certain circumstances. 

I got a gigabyte p450b and I need like 550 watts. will it harm my parts or something to run it?
