Hybrid SSD/HDD setup

WackySpace

So I saved a backup and made a system image, and I plan to install windows 10 on my SSD and then load the system image, but I don't know what will happen to the apps and files that are saved, will it be overwritten and then there will only be one? Or will the files and apps be on both drives with no conflicts? Should I delete it off of my SSD when I'm done loading system image?

I tried a few disk cloning software like AOMEI, Ease US, and a few others and they always say I need to pay for a license to use the disk cloning, so don't suggest this unless you know a completely free disk cloning software that includes actual disk cloning.

I just want to know what will happen with all the duplicate files and apps if there are after the system image is loaded. I got my media creation tool loaded on my usb, before I do this I just need to know if it will have conflicts or not.

Why pay money for a cloning tool when Windows has a built-in tool for that.

I tend to use Macrium Reflect - should be free and it has an option to create a recovery USB.

There's been times when a cloned drive wouldn't boot and that USB fixed it perfectly.

Wait, so the reason I couldn't use the disk clone option is because I didn't sign up for the newsletter? In the video he didn't delete his HDD files and it worked fine, so I should just delete what I don't need on my SSD to save space, and save most of my apps on my hdd, and also activate TRIM.

I did some research on AOMEI Backupper, and it says I can only clone disk for free if I'm cloning MBR to MBR or GPT to GPT. My HDD is set to MBR and my SSD to GPT so it won't work, so will Installing a fresh windows and loading system image make a difference?

AOMEI Partition Assistant is not part of Windows. Or did I miss something?

I tried to clone and it says it can't because my ssd is a usb drive, since it is connected with sata to usb, so I'm going to try the WIN to USB software it suggested. It looks like it needs to pro version, once I clicked proceed. Looks like I might have to install my SSD internally and try hasleo disk clone, but I suspect its also not free.

I'd give a try to latest free version of Macrium Reflect.  Has always worked for me.

I have used Macrium with great success until a disk failure!  Not sure if the copy took it down or if it was just time, but it had served me well for a few years.

I would recommend Clonezilla instead though and use a disk to disk clone, as not a single one of the partition to partition nor image creation options make any sense, and I would not trust them to work.

When I try the image creation route, it does not allow me to choose a disk, but only partutions, so it seems functionality is missing or works in a very unexpected way.

Windows 11 will just force business to "recycle" "obscolete" hardware.  Microsoft definitely isn't bothered by this at all, and seems to want hardware produced just a few years ago to be considered obsolete.  They have also not shown any interest nor has any other company in a similar financial position, to help increase tech recycling whatsoever.  Windows 12 might be cloud-based and be a monthly or yearly fee.

F-droid is a place to install open-source software for android, Antennapod, RethinkDNS, Fennec which is Firefox with about:config, lots of performance and other changes available, mozilla KB has a huge database of what most of the settings do.  Most software in the repository only requires Android 5 and 6!

I recommend firewall apps (blocks apps) and dns filters (redirect all dns requests on android, to your choice of dns, even if overridden).  RethinkDNS is my pick and I set it to use pi-hole, installed inside Ubuntu/Debian, which is inside Virtualbox, until I go to a website, nothing at all connects to any other server.  I also use NextDNS.io to do the same when away from home wi-fi or even cellular!  I can even tether from cellular to any device sharing via wi-fi, and block anything with dns set to NextDNS, regardless if the device allows changing dns.  This style of network filtration is being overridden by software updates on some devices, forcing a backup dns provuder, such as google dns, when built in dns requests are not connecting.  Without a complete firewall setup, dns redirection itself is no longer always effective.

I severely doubt cloning software could affect SSD health.
