Hi,

So me and the wife was looking at getting baldur's gate 3 to play co-op but as far as i know we would both have to buy it on steam so it would cost us £100 to play together which is not really something we want to do is there a way we can play co-op games in general without buying 2 copies of the game every time?
I have seen some games have remote play together listed on the steam store page for them and not others is this a feature that all steam games have or is it something the dev's have to turn on for the game?

Thanks

only for local co-op games. two instances of the game running means two licenses.

this not true as some games have remote play together tag so you dont need to buy 2 copies but some games dont have this so i dont know if its just a thing the dev's have to turn on for the game or its just a feature within steam that works for all games

You can't have 2 instances of the same .exe running.

Steam does have built in remote couch coop. Heard baldurs gate 3 itself has coop, but not sure if splitscreen coop/turn based or a separate account joins your playthrough like something out of dark souls.

as far as i know and can tell from googling its splitscreen co-op which is not ideal as we would have to either crowd round my 32" ultra wide not ideal at all or sit on the sofa in the living room on a 92" 1080p projector... also not ideal as i dont know if you ever used a mouse on a sofa its not fun ahhaha

that's local co-op, that was developer-verified to work trough remote play together.

it has splitscreen co-op but i dont want to use that as i have no good device for that and would much rather use our own rigs to play the game with remote play together but i have no idea if it will work

Shame Roccat stopped making them but couch keyboards exist, other makes now:

Also you can use mutliple unique controllers for separate inputs. That's how me and my friends play games. One uses keyboard, the other 3 use controllers.

ye i saw linus has one from corsair but i cant seem to ever find one for sale these days and if i do find one someone wants 34924234942 quid for it and its just silly am almost at the point of getting use plywood and buying an LTT mouse pad and a staple gun XD

i only use controller for driving games normally so am sure that would be hilarious to watch me trying to move around using sticks again not done that since the PS3 was the latest console out hahaha so on local co-op split screen on BG3 i could use KBM and the wife controller and we would then only have to buy 1 copy of the game?
thats the current only option?
