Hello everybody,

I have never built a pc or even swapped a part. I own a very old prebuild, and it is time for a new one. So in two months(black friday) Ill buy the rest of the parts, but I already bought the GPU(Powercolor Fighter rx 6700XT) as it was on sale and I would get starfield with it. I already want to use it though, so untill I have the new PC I will use this GPU in my old pc. After that Ill switch the GPU into the new PC, and the old GPU(gtx 760) back into the old rig. So my question is now: do I need to install drivers onto the old GPU before I take it out or will everything be fine?

Replacing gpu isn’t always that simple, especially going from nvidia to amd. You need to make sure your power supply can even support the new gpu and has the correct cables, which I doubt it does. If it does, you’ll need to run DDU before swapping gpus and use generic windows drivers while you download amd gpu drivers. The drivers go on the os, not the hardware itself.

Do this, but choose Clean and shutdown in DDU (also choose Nvidia, because that's what you got now). Swap the card and install amd driver.
