Budget (including currency): ~1700 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, often AAA

Other details:

Ryzen 7 7700X (w/ NH-U12A)

Gigabyte B650M DS3H (Micro-ATX)

Corsair Vengeance 16 GB 5200MHz CL40

Radeon 7800 XT (whatever will be in stock)

SeaSonic 750W platinum

Silverstone FARA H1M

Using a 165hz 1440p display

Roughy 1500 USD

Is a 7700X a good combo with the 7800XT? Or do I need to up/downgrade one? Thanks!

7700x is a beast of a CPU and is one of the fastest gaming CPU's on the market.
You could easily go down to a Ryzen 7600 or 7600X without losing any noticeably performance.
Here are 2 pictures from Techspot ( hardware unboxed on Youtube ) with the 7700x paired with a RTX 4090.. Its a fast CPU, the 7600 is also very fast as you can see.  One picture is 10 game average at 1080p and one is 10 game average at 1440p. I personaly use the 7700x and I absolutely love it, I would be happy with a 7600 as well.

Yeah, it's a fine option, probably what I'd aim for.

I'd be trying to get a better RAM kit though, going for 2x16GB is not much more expensive and is a bit faster.

Keep in mind all of these tests are run with the game only on a fresh windows install without much if any background programs running. If you add more background programs and have other programs open while gaming then 6 cores tends to struggle vs say an 8 core.

I'm going for the G.Skill Ripjaws S5 6000 CL30, thanks!

And is the 750W good enough, not sure if I need a 850W PSU.

Ripjaws are optimized for Intel builds (XMP). You want G.Skill Flare (AMD Expo).
