Hello,

I will share my story about my RX6800FE

2 days ago i wanted to change my thermal pads on the VRM, memory and GPU.

When i have open the cards i have see on the GPU a thermal pad like graphite one. After so many research its a from HITACHI and they are not selling it. SO !

I have put thermal past on the GPU and closed it

I have do one test ingame. 110° on hotspot... **wtf**?

Ok i open the cards again and i decide to change all thermal PADS on VRM and memory and remove the thermal past in the GPU for a thermal pads.

I installed on the gpu a thermal pads silicone 1mm and in all VRM and memory the same 1mm.

Second test still 110° in the hotspot...

Ok i will start to burn this cards next time.

I open the cards for the 3rd time i keep on the vrm and memory the thermal pads 1mm. BUT i remove the thermal pads on the gpu for a thermal PAST this time and i will try again.

You know what? Still 110°....

I have make a research in the internet about that i found nothing just for the RX6800XT but maybe its the same...

Ok my question is.

What thermal pads mm i need to use for GPU, for VRM, for MEMORY?

Fan curves are modified.
And before this problem my temps of junction never going up than 85° ingame.

What was the hotspot temp before?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

This is what i could find on Reddit/overclock.net

"1mm pads for VRM & 2mm for memory chips this is if you’re using a firmer thermal pad if you’re using a soft pliable pad use 1.5mm and 2.5mm.
For the heatsink pads 1mm is the size
Also I used Noctua Thermal paste and M3x1mm thick nylon washers on the mount bracket"

if i understand actually i miss 1mm for my memory but for my vrm is fine. In my gpu actually i have put a thermal past like 1mm on it. For the GPU the thickness of pad are 1mm? i dont understand correctly i'm totally lost..

i hear something about a nylon washers for more preassure on youtube...  but do i really need it? I'm asking because stock we didnt have it.

Yeah... Cause i always change my thermal past in all cards i got since so many years without thinking about thickness. Its the first time i got this issue when i repast something...

And wow stock she have a thermal pad in carbon graphite.... first time i see that.

yeah i have found this video when i started to research something about. In commentary also some random guys share there fix.

He are using nylon washers. For the gpu he is just using a past. Not a pad.

Thermal pad on memory 1mm and 1,5mm for vrm.

But its a XT one look very similar like my 6800.

Do i really need to do that? my god just for repast.. Stupid amd 😞

not for my mistake. I blame them cause they are put in the cards a thermal pads carbon graphite from hitachi 0.3mm for a gpu. And you cant found a pads like this available in the store anywhere.... Only a silicone one from aliexpress..

On a board level it’s typically the same.

you can use paste for the GPU just fine. I used paste for my water block then again when I put the air cooler back on it when I was done with it.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

i will try the solution with the nylon washers and 1mm pads for memory and 1,5 for vrm... I hope this time it will be fine. I will make a review about this.
