A two way microphone

My uncle running a small clinic in my shop,where sick patients come to get medicine.My uncle sits behind a counter and the patient is on the other side.He wants a microphone and a speaker so the patient can here him clearly.Let me break this down.

On the patients side there is a small speaker and a microphone and on the doctor's side there is a small speaker and a microphone,so both people can hear what they are gonna say.There are several counters so the speakers sound should only be heard to that specific person.

 

Can anybody tell me how to configure this or is there some kind of equipment needed and what is its name??

What you're looking for is called an intercom.

What kind of barrier is at the counter that is preventing him from talking to the customers? I'm assuming it's some type of glass or acrylic barrier to stop people from attacking the pharmacy staff?

It is a glass and no it is not to stop attacking,so people won't get infected.Not a joke

An intercom. Very simple technology thats been around for at least 50 years. Should be easy to find something on Amazon for a very cheap price. Maybe even wireless, so no installation required.
