That depends, do you actually need to transcode or can the devices DirectPlay?

 

Even my phone (I think) can DirectPlay over WiFi so I have no restrictions.  Of course if you are streaming remotely you likely do need to transcode.

That depends on the target resolution and bitrate of your sources and streams.

 

This tool will give you a good idea of what your card can do. Un-tick all the video card boxes except for "GA102", the codename for the actual processor on the RTX 3080:

If you don't want to tie up your 3080, your i7's integrated GPU is plenty capable of video encoding.

 

Also remember, you need a Plex Pass subscription to take advantage of hardware video transcoding.

Officially 5, but that's an artificial limitation. (Market segmentation between the 'consumer' GeForce line and the formerly-Quadro and used-to-be-Tesla lines built around the exact same processors.) There are patches for most versions of the Nvidia driver package to get around that.

some do direct play but most have to transcode
