Build Plan Criticism

Go to solution Solved by QuantumSingularity,

Your initial build wasn't bad, but i just went and beefed it up a bit:

The changes - the cooler is now the best 360 AIO on the market. As cooler as you can keep the 7800X3D, the better.

Got you a tier higher motherboard, could go the X670, but no point really

The memory is probably the 2nd most important thing after the GPU. The sweet spot for Ryzen 7000 is 6000MHz CL30. This one has EXPO, which improves a bit the stability over XMP on AMD platforms

 Faster storage with DRAM.

The best air cooled 7900XTX on the market currently is Sapphire's NITRO+. With the 6000 series used to be Red DEvil, but now NITRO+ is better in terms of performance AND thermals.

A much better case with 3x120 front fans included. Just install the LF II 360 on top as exhaust and it all will be perfect.

Upgraded the PSU to 1000W so you don't have to ever worry about instabilities due to transient spikes or stuff like that. It will take everything this hardware can throw at it. You can peacefully OC everything as much as it allows.

Budget (including currency): $2200

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4k 60fps ultra graphics games. MS flight sim, cyberpunk, etc.

Hi there! I have a plan for a build but would really appreciate some feedback. Particularly,  it's not clear to me if I can downgrade the cpu or if perhaps Intel is a better choice. I would love another set of eyes on this before I pull the trigger. Thanks!

Intel: more cores => less cluttered use of CPU for background tasks. AMD: usually higher IPC rate, so a bit more powerful for single core.

The choice of 7800X3D is... full gaming at full throttle. However... having fewer cores compared to Intel (14 cores version, 8 pCores + 6 eCores) in some cases could deliver a better all-round performance, expecially if you have game "and more things" in background (discord, web browser, whatever)

Take these "fast" evaluations only... reference. Both products, if well sorted and combine, can provide a lot of juice for make your build chew FPS more than an hamster.

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂

Might as well choose decently fast RAM and a faster SSD for such a high end build... changed the CPU Cooler so its not too much more expensive, performance of the cooler should be about the same and you can just use the paste that comes with the cooler.

Very good, I'd just swap the board for an Aorus Elite one, overall better, and the SSD for a gen4 one, WD SN850x for example
