I recently installed fallout for my PC, and have been experiencing some problems on start up. The game loads fine, but when I attempt to start a new save file, the game crashes every time.  I've tried different settings, windowed/non windowed, driver updates, and various other solutions I found from a quick google search, and none have worked.I'm thinking about installing the mod manager and just running the game vanilla through it, but I want to attempt to fix it before that. I am on intel 4600 integrated  graphics, windows 8.1, and the rest of my specs are on my profile if needed. Other games are crashing too, like Dirt 3 didn't even load, but I am not sure it is caused by the same problem.

http://www.gophersvids.com/  Go to guides > Fallout 3.  Lots of great videos there but they take a while to go through.  If you're not modding and just looking to fix the crash, try http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2043539 for the FO3 multicore fix.

I checked the second link, but cannot find the file. Is it different for the Game of the year edition, or on windows 8?

Not sure actually, I'm on win7.  Should just be able to search for the file, gotta be there somewhere.

I searched my entire drive, and found nothing.
