Does 4th gen Intel support m.2

I want to buy a m.2 for my computer but I don’t know if my i5 4675 will even support it

It depends on the motherboard. What motherboard do you have?

 

The 90 series of motherboards were the first ones for mainstream computers that had M.2 support, so if you have a Z97 board with an M.2 slot, you're good to go.

 

If you're asking about using an expansion card to add an M.2 boot drive using PCIe to a computer that doesn't already have an M.2 slot, the answer is probably "no," but again, it's the motherboard, not the CPU, that will make the difference.

It dependes, there are some motherboards with bios updates to support it. Mostly the high end stuff, but still, it is probably a gen 3 PCIE lane, so it will not be super fast...

It depends on the motherboard. What motherboard do you have, and does it have an M.2 slot?

 

Be aware that while some LGA 1150 motherboards support M.2 SATA, M.2 NVMe support back in those days can get pretty spotty. Make sure you know what your board supports before you buy an SSD.

I dont think it will work, if has no m2 slot, it was a huge advertisement point at the time, and mostly on high end mobos (I know because I bought an Asus Z97 board to have m2 support), so probably not

It'll likely work for secondary storage, but NVMe boot was hit or miss even on the boards with M.2 slots on them, let alone OEM boards where an M.2 slot wasn't originally present. 

 

I'd personally avoid it and just go SATA.

If you can find an MX 500 or an 860/870 Evo, that would be the best option, but pricing of those doesn't usually make much sense. You'll probably be fine with something like a TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Z, it's nothing too special but it's pretty cheap.

Just check the keying of the m.2 slot on the motherboard first.  If it has 2 notches on the slot then it's sata not nvme.
