Recording with Odac

I have the Odac/O2 combo. I'm trying to record computer audio with Audacity. I have a midi file that needs to be 'converted' into MP3, so I play the file, record on Audacity, and export as MP3. But there is no record option for the Odac. In the recording tab of audio devices there's just my microphone and the mic on my webcam. So is it not possible? I could revert back to onboard audio for this task but that's a pain in the ass considering I'd have to redownload onboard audio drivers, blah blah blah.

The ODAC is a digital analogue converter, I don't fully understand what you expect it to be doing, but it is just there to turn a digital sound file into an analogue line level signal.

you should be able to record stereo mix, which will record any sound played by your computer.

what device you playback on will have no effect on what you record.

There's a playback tab and a record tab in audio hardware panel:

Where's the option to record what's outputted on the panel to the right? Just microphones.

I was half hoping/expecting the right panel to have an item like "Odac Output" or like STX, "What U Hear" or something.

Because you need ASIO drivers I believe. As far as I know, there are no ASIO drivers for the ODAC.
