I'm looking to replace my build from 2016 and realise i've completely lost track of what constitutes value, not helped by the incomprehensible naming schemes given to products, So would appreciate any guidance you have.

Budget (including currency): £1750-2250 GBP

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games and emulating PS3 games using RPCS3.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Upgrading from - i5 6600K, 980Ti, 16gb RAM @3000

Resolution - Have a 1440p 144hz MSI monitor for gaming and also have it hooked up to a 4k TV for watching films etc.

Also wouldn't mind trying to make the PC a bit more aesthetically pleasing, last build was in a Define R5 with no window.

Just for extra headroom and to hold over future upgrades, I would probably step up to an RM1000x or RM1000e. Rest of your list looks good. Usually I recommend having a 2-3TB HDD just for mass storage, but that's all up to you.

My last build was in a Define R5 with no window, and my current build is in a Define 7 XL with no window, so I'm probably not the guy to talk to about making a system aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks, should have mentioned I have a mishmash of SATA SSDs and a 4TB HDD that may be salvaged from my current build

Oh yeah, you should be good to go then, just a slightly bigger PSU for peace of mind and it's off to the races.

HDDs in a gaming PC? Such heresy.

Burn me at the stake 😄

My method is usually "have SSDs for games, OS, and other things that should be loaded quickly -- have HDD for anything that doesn't fit the previous criteria".

Whats the storage in here? If we got a big fat SSD already we could just go for 1TB Nvme and cut this to sub 2k with no compromise.
