A buddy of mine has been having some trouble lately with some redirects happening in his browser. Frankly, I'm stumped as nothing I have done has seemed to have worked. So I'm hoping to get a "second pair of eyes" so to speak on the issue.

In both Chrome and Firefox, when browsing his usual sources of entertainment or what have you, any link on any page he may click will take him to a random website or open a new tab or window. Whats more odd is that if he clicks the back button and clicks on that same link, it works as intended and directs to the proper place. And the fact that it does it in both browsers eliminates the possibility of add ons or extensions causing the issue. I've tried:

Full scans and Boot time scans with Avast

Full scans with MalwareBytes

Full scans with Spybot

Cleared all cookies/cache/temp folders with CCleaner, also cleaned Registry with same

Ran "ipconfig /flushdns" in a command window

Checked network settings to make sure it wasn't redirecting to proxy servers

Hardwired OpenDNS servers as primary and secondary DNS on his computer

Un/Reinstalled drivers for network adapter

None of those has solved the problem, and like I said I am stumped. Any ideas or suggestions?

I am whatever I am.

Reset your router if that isn't too much trouble, especially if its a wifi router.

Have tried that. Our router resets on its own whenever the hell it wants, courtesy of ATT and their less then fabulous hardware.

I am whatever I am.
