Why so?

What is the usecase for this?

In what ways does it need to be portable?

Like put it in a car and drive it somewhere portable or has to be able to be put in a backpack and be used on its own on the go with a laptop or something portable?

I am not really sure what kind of portable monitor you want for gaming, please add more info. However this is a good monitor when it comes to gaming and refresh rate, especially if you are trying to pack light.

I can't say a whole lot about it from a longevity view, however I was testing it out at LTX and it worked very well. It was bright, no ghosting issues, refresh rate as awesome, convenient and portable, and overall a nice little unit. Unfortunately no matter what you do these are gonna be very pricey because they are not likely very popular in the tech community when it comes to travel. However if you decide to get it, you can always return if the quality is poor, or just not worth the price.
