USB 3.0 has been renamed twice, it's currently known as "USB 3.2 Gen 1", so it's possible the motherboard supports the connector the case has.

If your port or cable looks like this : https://www.datapro.net/products/usb-3-20-pin-header-extension-cable.html You can plug them together. USB 3 headers will run at whatever speeds they are designed to. The front panel USB ports are only wires going to the USB 3 port on the motherboard (there may be a few exceptions but very rare).
