hello!

My asus 560ti directcu ii is running very hot with a peak temp in kombustor of 73ºC degrees and an idle of 42ºC also in a cold room.

it's not an airflow problem with the case as my friends hd5850 has no problems in my case.

I have reseated the cooler, cleaned and added new thermal paste but I didn't see much improvement?

Anyway have an idea on how to fix this?

73ºC is normal for a Video Card under load, I'd start getting a little concerned if it started push 85ºC+

However reading reviews of the card it's running way under with a max temp of 50ºC

Might of used too much paste. You only need a tiny amount.

Kombuster is alright for testing max temps and if you're only hitting 73, you're good.

Only used a small amount of paste.

Fermi was quite hot operating archtecture 50c was definatly not correct.

That video was quite interesting ;)

anyway 50c did sound a little cool to me too, here is what I read on Bit tech http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2011/01/25/nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-1gb-review/10

I'm more worried about the idle temps.

The peak temperature of the card also increased, from 37°C to 48°C, but the cooler remained very quiet throughout. With these levels of extra performance on tap, and with marginal thermal and power consumption detriments, there’s really no reason not to overclock your GTX 560 Ti 1GB.

Dont worry about 73 degrees, its nothing to worry about! i agree with other guys over there who says that you must worry when it goes 85+ for a GPU 80 degrees is under load is quit operatable (or w/e its called :D )

Most GPUs can run at over 100c for there lifetime.

Linus overclocked the Titan and he set the temp target to 90c so I am guessing that the Titan gpu can reach those temps and not damage the card?

It could go higher 90c is a safe temp. Had an old GTX 275 that ran at 95c under max load and it has worked fine for years of service.

42 at idle does seem a little high. I would think in an environment your describing as cold the card shouldn't go above 35 degrees at idle, being a Directcuii design anyway, maybe if it was reference low 40s would be normal...

I have a MSi 560ti TFII.  Mine runs at 40-45C at idle and 75C or so in furmark.  These temps are normal for me.

However, OP, do you have 2 monitors?  When I run only one monitor my idle temps drop to about 38C.  A second display would explain slightly higher idle temps than what you might see in reviews.

My GTX 465 idles around 68C, and tops out around 96C at full gaming load. It puzzles me because I have a dedicated 70mm fan pushing air through an aluminum duct from the front of the case all the way to the video card intake, but then again I have a 200% overclock going.

My overclocked reference 560Ti's  would hit 80C at 100% load in a 22C  room no problems.....Idles at 38C

Now that summer is here and my AC cant keep up they get to 82C and stop outputting video...

backed the clocks down 25Mhz and they run all day long at 75 to 78C.

I think the factory spec is for them to drop to idle at 80C +/- 1 deg.
