Upgrading Laptop RAM

Looking to upgrade RAM in a laptop for a frien but I'm not too experiencedwith laptop maintenance. They have a HP Pavilion 14-dv0xxx with 4GB currently installed. I'm looking at upgrading it to 2x8GB. I've been looking at different RAM for laptops but I'm not sure how to tell if they're be compatible or not. Any guidance would be appreciated

1Rx8 is way faster than 1Rx16 for gaming.

and 2Rx8 is faster than 1Rx8, though not by as much. 

 

As for compatibility, Crucial has a memory finder on their website that will tell you exactly what memory it takes. It's not perfect, but it's pretty accurate with RAM and is usually the easiest way of figuring that out short of just taking apart the laptop, finding the model number, and seeing the memory specs on there yourself.
