GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 xt

PSU: Corsair RM850x

More than fine. Seen more wins with RM850x pigtail than otherwise, not all pigtail connectors are made equal. And for stock operation, the 7900XT shouldn't really exceed the 300-350W limit of these cable even in worst case scenario. Save that for when you want to buy a custom cable kit.

So im building my pc right now and im at the point where i need to connect my gpu to the psu. My gpu has 3 8 pin slots and my psu only came with 2 6+2 pin pigtail cables but i read that its best to use one cable for each slot.

So i wanted to ask if thats how im supposed to do it.IMG_6175.thumb.jpeg.4f92dc310b47bc9948180f3a4e83e658.jpeg

Or should i order another 6+2 cable?

GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 xt

PSU: Corsair RM850x

Thanks for helping 🙂

I would recommend fixing that.

as for the pigtails, I would recommend using the end instead as the power can deflect and cause minor clock instability, I would site the source but I don't have time to scour YT for that one. It's fine to ignore me if you choose, probably wouldn't notice the difference anyhow.

Sorry,I forgot to add that its the oc version of the gpu (if that makes any difference) and the max wattage listed on the website is 368w.

If the answer is still the same thanks for the help 🙂

Yeah using the other connector on the pigtail leads to better power stability as you don't have it rebounding on the unpopulated end.

Please site your source for this. I am 99 % sure that isn't a thing, electricity just doesn't work like that.

Love to, don't have time to go digging through old GN overclocking videos... Feel free to ignore it was only relevant for extreme OCing, what happens it that modern computers aim for an average voltage with MOSFETs and smooth it out capacitors and coils, you still end up with pulses, said pulses deflect like a wave off the end of the cable, leading destructive interference reducing voltage.
