I want to use my ps4 ps5 controller on my computers. In the future I might get wireless mouse, keyboard and headset, tho from what I can tell those usually come with their own dongles anyway so a stable connection for sony controllers is the main criteria really.

Any recommendations would be great. I have no idea what to look out for when choosing a product and especially on Amazon I hardly recognise any brand names.

Country: Germany

Budget: 50€

DS4 bluetooth only works on PS from my experience unless you use the special sauce first party dongle. Good news is the dual sense DOES allow you to connect to PC without special sauce dongle from Sony.

Oh damn, you're absolutely correct. I didn't pay close enough attention, it actually only lists android, iOS and some other odd operating systems as supported for bluetooth and explicitly says it requires the official sony ps4 dongle to work on PC.

I like the ps5 controller much more anyway so I guess I'll go with a ps5 controller sooner than I intended.

For the dual sense iirc you still need companion software for games that don't recognize DirectInput controllers.

Yeah I had that issue when using my dual shock 4 controller (via cable) as well but DS4Windows also works for the Dual Sense as far as I know so that's alright. Do you have any good usb bluetooth adapter in mind perhaps that could give a stable connection with minimal input lag?

Anything that uses Microsoft Bluetooth Stack (read: generic Bluetooth driver from Microsoft) should work. Also if you haven't, use Ryochan7 fork of it, not the original one.

I am frankly not sure what exact version/fork of ds4 i used in the past but I will give that one a look, thank you. I'd go with the ASUS USB-BT500 dongle. It doesn't say anything about additional drivers anywhere on their website so I assume it's using the generic one from Microsoft?

May I ask what you use now in case you still use a usb bt dongle?

I went wired for the limited controller use I have for desktop, mostly use gaming laptop for games since it has a better spec (looking at upgrading desktop though). And the laptop has a Realtek chip in it that's wifi 6 and bt (5.1?) So the Xbox series controller I use works (almost) seamlessly. Sometimes I have to unpair the controller and repair it, but that usually only is the case if I connected another Bluetooth device with the controller off.
