Posted May 14, 2014 1. I'd guess it has already been over-hyped, so while it will most likely provide improvements in games supporting it, I don't think it will be the 'better-than-mantle' solution that it's rumored to be. 2. I think it's already been stated that Microsoft will be adding it into every OS as far back as Windows 7, due to the polarized reactions to Windows 8 and 8.1 CPU: 5930K @ 4.5GHz | GPU: Zotac GTX 980Ti AMP! Posted May 14, 2014 It's hard to say how much of a performance benefit there will be, the first DX12 support games aren't predicted to show up until the latter half of 2015. We'll have to wait and see for benchmarks. Maybe it'll be better than Mantle, maybe it won't. *shrug* And like somebody else said, it is supposed to be available on Windows 7 as well as newer OS's. Posted May 14, 2014 its gonna have low cpu over head AKA much less cpu usage If your grave doesn't say "rest in peace" on it You are automatically drafted into the skeleton war.
Posted May 14, 2014 No way of knowing as of yet, but I personally think it will help, but I also don't see it being all that drastic. I think the benefits will slowly show themselves over time, just as with Mantle. All I know is, I don't care if it's DX12 or Mantle, it's just nice to see this change happening. Posted May 14, 2014 Way too early to say what it will do, but my money is on some small improvements across the board, with a few major performance gains in some areas. Posted May 14, 2014 well I'm hoping for a whooping 500% performance increase. ok I'll get real. it will either have something around 1%-50% increase in performance depending on hardware or it will be just that with huge amount of eye candy which we all love which has 2 more options either they bunk our rig making them more demanding or will give us more performance. Live your life like a dream.
Posted May 14, 2014 It's going to be just like all the other DX versions since 8.0 (when I started); It will add new features, new functions, inefficient implementations in the previous iteration will be fixed, granting performance improvements, but overall, no real change, aside from new tools in the toolbox. Personally, I look forward to OpenGL and linux gaming more than anything because during the lifespan of DX12, steamOS and a few other linux initiatives will kick off. I know they won't gain traction too rapidly, but I'm happy to see real change all the same.
