Looking at a projector that has an output of 1280 x 800 (WXGA)

So is this basically high definition 720p resolution? Little confused here.

Has a bit more vertical height

Ok, thanks, so it's going to look as crisp as 720p? If so, that's good enough for me. 1080p projectors are kind of expensive and can be lower on the lumen output so I guess I might compromise with a lower resolution but much higher lumen output.

It'll display a 720p image if that's what you're asking. 🙂 Edit: and if you check the manual of the projector you'll see exactly what resolution it can receive, 1080p for example, should be converted to 1080i, and so on.

Yep, 720p is good enough. Question though. If I'm using 1080p video, I assume it would just be downscaled to 720p?

It says on the spec sheet:

"Resize:
640 x 480 (VGA), 800 x 600 (SVGA), 1024 x 768 (XGA), 1280 x 960 (SXGA2), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA3), 1366 x 768 (WXGA60-3), 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+), 1440 x 900 (WXGA+), 1680 x 900 (WXGA++), 1600 x 1200 (UXGA60)"

Maybe check the manual. See my post again, just updated it..

Hmm, I'm looking at Aspect Ratio Settings in the manual.

It has:

Auto - Automatically sets the aspect ratio according to the input signal and the Resolution setting.
Normal - Displays images using the full projection area and maintains the aspect ratio of the image.
16:9 - Converts the aspect ratio of the image to 16:9.
Full - Displays images using the full width of the projection area, but does not maintain the aspect ratio.
Zoom - Displays images using the full width of the projection area and maintains the aspect ratio of the image.
Native - Displays images as is (aspect ratio and resolution are maintained).

Not sure if this helps? It's all I could find in the manual. https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd54237.pdf

Search for Supported Video Display Formats in the manual. Page 201. It lists supported input display formats and resolutions.
