3080s are known for large frequent transient spikes (this is where the card draws an extreme amount of power for a few micro seconds). Because of this there is typically a few recommendations to go for a 1000W PSU with a 3080. That being said, I paired an 850W with my 3080 and have had no issues (but I can't comment on how well your PSU will handle your 3080).

 

I suggest you build the machine, run some stress tests and see if you get any issues. You can always return the PSU and get a more powerful one.

Common build advice:

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.

I checked the LTT PSU Tier List, this is a note on your specific unit, found in Tier B (search for EVGA):

 

"Units experiencing tripping issues with high transient power draw GPUs like AMD Vega, 6900 XT and NVidia RTX3080 / 3080 Ti / 3090. Generally fixed in newer batches."

thats a 3090 not a 3080. The 3080 has transients normally at around 400w but that's not too terrible

I'm not saying I'd recommend 1000, I'm saying I often see recommendation by others for 1000W PSUs for 3080. My personal advice is to buy a 900W or a good 850W PSU.
