I would like to replace my Dell E176FP with something a little newer. It's still a really, really, really nice monitor, but I'd like something a little newer for reliability and screen size. My criteria are below. I don't really care about IPS or TN. As long as the panel doesn't suck, I'm happy.

  • At least 22" in size
  • 1080p or 1200p
  • Under $200 USD
  • Matte screen
  • Hopefully still available by Christmas
  • DVI and HDMI. VGA, if possible (otherwise an adapter link will be needed too).

Is this something you're looking for?

It is nice, but I was thinking something more Dell-ey. If nothing else, that will do fine.

A cheap IPS, or a higher end TN will fit this easily...

Just go check PCpartpicker or something :)

My firewall is being screwey and isn't letting me go there.

Acer H236HLbid. I have two in front of me right now, and they're pretty nice.

It's glossy, 1080p, IPS, supports VGA, DVI, HDMI, and is only $150.

Glossy kills it. I'll have to add matte to my list. I know it's nice, but my PC is right by the window, and gloss screens are near impossible to see when it's sunny out.

Yes, of course those exist.. So much so, that there are just too damn many to mention.

If you want best picture quality and viewing angles, go for an IPS Panel.

If your sole purpose is gaming and you want fast refresh rates such as 120Hz or 144Hz, go for a TN Panel.

Either way, with your budget of sub-$200 - you'll be able to find some great choices. Such as a budget IPS that looks great, or a mid-high end TN. You could probably even go up to 23"-24" with that budget! Don't worry about one that has a D-SUB (VGA) because for like $5 you could get an adapter for your Dell computer.

Most people of this forum are going to say go with IPS; to which I cannot argue or disagree with.

Alright, I went to the Deli (Okay, I'll stop now.) and I found this. I'm actually not sure if it has a VGA interface or not, because Newegg doesn't seem to indicate if it does or not, but in PCPartPicker, it says it does have one.

He never said he needed IPS as far as my understanding of the situation goes.

Asus makes affordable 23" IPS panels (under $200)

Got a link? I guess one of those would do fine.

I could care less about IPS/TN guys. All of my monitors are TN, and they're all nice. Hell, my E176FP (the one I want to replace) is TN and it looks pretty great for being 8 years old and TN.

Doesn't seem to load. Nevermind.
