Some question about my server

Hi,I got a new server for Dell PowerEdge R720,but i want to know what CPU and GPU I should get for running After Effects and Premiere?

Depending on the version of BIOS you have installed, it can take up to a pair of any Xeon E5-2600 or E5-2600 v2 processors. (If you run dual processors, they have to be the same model.)

 

Bear in mind that even though you can get a high core count, they're still old Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors. Temper your performance expectations accordingly.

I want to choose E5 26800v2 or E5 2696V2,which is the best?

There is no 2696 as far as I know… but have you actually looked them up at all? Determining which is best is relatively simple. One has more and faster cores. If that’s what you need, that one is better. It will also use more electricity tho, so if that’s an issue, maybe it’s not as good for your needs.

These E5 v2 processors don't seem to be comparable to the most recent & cheapest 6-core processor Ryzen 4500. Yes, if both the electricity bill & the noise don't matter, you could make up with E5-2697 v2 (seemingly the most powerful in such generation) for rendering, and a Quadro P400/P620 GPU for fast preview.

"Best" to do what? Do you need more cores, or faster cores?

 

CPUs with higher core counts start dropping clock speed in order to stay within a given power limit.

I got another problem.I deploy Dual Graphics.One is Tesla M40,the other is nVidia Quadro K600.But when i plug my display on it.I discovered I don't have any signal on K600?

It will only output to one display during POST.
