Recently my PC has been BSODing, stuttering, and randomly shutting down/restarting so I decided to test my PC and turns out my memory has hundreds of errors. I was in the market for new memory anyway but looking into it Crucial Ballistix which I've been wanting for a while is no longer being produced. I haven't paid attention to PCs much since I built my current one (2017) and was wondering what's good now. Any recommendations?

I have Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 right now but I don't think that really matters.

What are your PC specs?

Short answer is a DDR4 3600MHz CL16 set, from any manufacturer really.  DDR4 is easy peasy.  I prefer G. Skill Ripjaws RAM personally for my DDR4 machines as I've had no issues whatsoever with it, be it 2 sticks or 4.

Its less of that and more that its cheap and its going to be phased out. Not worth it to be picky about it anymore.

I'd probably drop down to 3200MHz RAM then, with such an earlier gen Ryzen.

1st gen ryzen has a pretty shit imc

This may be an odd reccomendation but id reccomend reselling that 1700x and getting yourself one of those used ryzen 5600(x) that go <100$ on fb marketplace or other classifieds sites, not only a massive ipc uplift (multicore performance will be a ton better even with 2 less cores) but imc is alot better

pretty much a why spend 50$ on a 32gb kit when you can spend ~50$ (accounting for cpu resale price) on a much better cpu that can actually run the rams at their rated speed then buy another 2 sticks of 8gb that have matching ram ics (verify current ram ic with thaiphoon burner) for a total of 32gb in 4x8 which is also dual rank (extra performance bump) and problably like ~10$ a stick for oem green pcbs (a matching set of corsair vengeance will come with diff ics so compatibility is not guaranteed)

i suspect that its an imc problem, for confirmation you can turn xmp off and see if the errors are still there

Yes, those are good.

Also, the recommendation for upgrading the CPU is valid as well.

I had already run the test with XMP off, there was ~160 errors although I did end the test short because I didn't see a reason in continuing it with so many errors.

Although with XMP on is when the BSOD usually happens (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

I was going to ask you what you thought about the suggestion lol, I'll buy that RAM then see if I can sell my CPU, although I don't know how much I can sell a 7 year old 1700x for.

Hmm

Yea rams are gone if they cant even run 2133 without erroring

As for 1700x sell prices consult some classifieds sites for pricing, definitely depends on what country you are in cause mine (indo) has one too many delusional idiots trying to sell ancient 1600/1700 2600/2700 for the price of a new 4500 or used 3600, in a more developed country maybe at the price or a tad under the price of a used 3600

Usually youd sell in a bundle with the mobo to make it look like a good deal cause the cpu itself is outclassed by even a 3600 but your board looks to be pretty decent and absolutely reusable for a 5600, i guess this is viable if you wanna do a sidegrade cause i have seen some of the better midranger boards like the b450-f, tomahawk, aorus elite/pro going for 50-70$ in some other countries used markets when looking at fb marketplace (us, uk, malaysia, etc.)
