Suggestions for $2400 usd build

TA4LIFE
Go to solution Solved by IkeaGnome,

This is very similar to a build I'm doing right now for my wife. There are other options for the cooler though.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fxJgXL/vetroo-v360-52-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-vt-aio-v360-wt

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vVxRsY/id-cooling-pinkflow-360-552-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-pinkflow-360

The pink flow is harder to find here in the states, and is what we went with. We ordered it from Aliexpress. It's on Newegg for a bit more than Aliexpress though.

https://www.newegg.com/p/1YF-00B0-00UT2

Another note is that the Lian Li isn't going to come with fans. If we ignore that for a minute, you can get a 7900 xtx and a power supply with white cables into a $2400 budget.

Fans to match the AIO are $33 for a 3 pack and controller, but they can also hook up to your motherboard directly and don't need the controller.

This build is for my gf which means there are some things in this build which I cannot switch out since she has asked for them specifically. This would be the nzxt kraken cooler, Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO, and a Gigabyte AERO OC Card.  This is a themed all white build which means even less options when it comes to choosing parts. Wanted suggestions/ opinions on the build and where I could spend a little less money without losing any real performance. Would very much appreciate suggestions for ram since currently I'm not too sure how important the cas being 32 or 36 will impact performance and if it even needs to be 6400 in the first place. Other places I would like opinions on is whether the the nzxt 240 rgb vs rgb elite was worth it and hoping someone who has either one of the coolers could let me know if the lcd pixel density and refresh rate was worth paying the ridiculous price on the elite version or to save money and go for the non-elite variant. If you have specific videos on these topics that you think is worth watching to provide me some insight on it please link them and I will take the time to watch. All suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you for your help 😄

Update: The psu doesn't need to be white because in this pc case its separated and can't be seen so no restrictions on that one.

Final Update: Have gotten a lot of great suggestions and ideas for ways I can change my build. Going to put a pin in it for now and try and implement suggestions provided into my build. Thanks for everyone that helped really appreciate the time you took to help me out.

yes AMD is very delicate when it comes to RAM, AM5 maybe little bit less but still

I am not 100% sure on the speeds, I'll ask someone,

yo @PDifolco isn't AM5 like 6000Mhz like the peak for budget builds?

Thank you for the pc parts list. Just wondering about the Powercolor Hellhound graphics card since I've never seen or heard anything about this company. Do you have any experience with them and is their support any good/ any bad qc issues that come with this company. I'll def look into the 7900xtx option. I didn't take it into consideration when Making this build because I've heard of how bad their drivers were with lots of people having issues just wondering if they've gotten significantly better since then and have cleaned up the software and drivers that come with their cards. Thanks again.

I love the b650 elite AX I've used it in a computer for my brother and its great but unfortunately I can't use it in her build because it needs to be white. Thanks for the information on the ram speed its good to know I can prob go lower without having to worry about performance issues. I'll take that into account when switching them out for something else. I've had 2 different brand new teamgroup t-force ram sticks fail/ not stable in 2 different computers so I don't think I will use those ones as I've kinda lost trust in it. Thanks again 😄

Powercolor has typically been at the top of AMD AIBs for performance. They cost more, but tend to be very worth it. Think EVGA but for AMD.

I haven't heard anything surprisingly bad about their support. That doesn't mean people don't have bad experiences with them, just that they haven't stood out recently as bad for support, unlike Gigabyte and their graphics cards.

If she's just flat out hooked on the look of the Aero, you *might* be able to step up to a 4080, but at a $1200 card that going to be a big ask. I ended up swapping that 4070 for the 7900xtx just due to the pure performance difference if she's just gaming. 1440p or 1080 and it might make sense to go a little bit lower tier with the graphics card as well.

The Dynamic Evo has room for 10 120mm fans. That would be ~$120 to fully populate the fan slots if you went with Vetroos.

Something else you can ask, and another route you can go if she doesn't plan on vertical mounting the GPU is custom back plates.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1024966953/custom-rgb-gpu-backplate-spectrum-white?click_key=694c7c658601f62126a1be9a26216a7e7a8287bc%3A1024966953&click_sum=635e8c27&ref=shop_home_active_3&pro=1&frs=1

For under $100 you can hide almost all non white on just about any graphics card. If she's wanting to have her card vertically mounted then that's not really an option.

If white and grey isn't the ticket, just go with any image you want.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1422668917/create-your-own-custom-design-rgb?click_key=ff05da1e2401569316db1274df2f92736339d0dc%3A1422668917&click_sum=ac066226&ref=shop_home_active_1&pro=1&frs=1

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1024960821/custom-printed-a-rgb-gpu-support-bracket?click_key=668af02993547f8aaad92c55c445fcf387072624%3A1024960821&click_sum=4f7522ae&ref=shop_home_active_4&pro=1&frs=1

The TL:DR is there's only so much cost cutting you can do on a white build, but I full well understand the "But I want white things and pink things" struggle ;).

People are always going to say "wasted money on this, wasted money on that", but is it really wasted money for her to be a bit happier? We all know it's not going to perform quite the same as if the entire budget wasn't spent on aesthetics. There are some interesting work arounds though.

Feel free to ask any other questions. I'm curious to see what yall come up with. If white wasn't the only color she wanted there's other creative ways to get that snuck into a build too.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

Something else you can ask, and another route you can go if she doesn't plan on vertical mounting the GPU is custom back plates.

For under $100 you can hide almost all non white on just about any graphics card. If she's wanting to have her card vertically mounted then that's not really an option.

If white and grey isn't the ticket, just go with any image you want.

WOW I have never seen anyone talk about this. These look amazing and are definitely a great idea.

Ok, let's change the RAM brand and whitewash the part list 😛

I didn't really look at the other responses but I think this would be good:

$2000 -

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A

Corsair Vengeance WHITE 16gb RGB

WD Black m.2 1TB

Radeon RX 6700 XT

Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo - "best case ever"

550W Thermaltake Smart PSU

802.11a WiFi adapter

USB 3.0 and 3.1 adapters to make STRIX B550-A work with the O11

The above build isn't that good though (I made it a while ago), so here are some changes I'd make for a final part list:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

ASUS TUF Gaming B650M-PLUS WiFi Socket AM5

32GB DDR5

Samsung m.2 2TB

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo - "best case ever"

Corsair RM1000x PSU

I didn't calculate price of the new one but it should be around what you said (2400 USD)
