Chipset drivers

So when I had my 3800x cpu I had already downloaded the most up to date chipset driver. I have upgraded to a 5800x3d and I saw the driver version is the same. Should I still download the chipset driver again and update it?

No, it's the same, but I'd recommend reinstalling it (just rerun the install, no need to uninstall anything).

 

Set the PBO curve offset to negative and start with 15. Most 5800X3D run fine with negative 15, 20, 25, and many even 30.

That greatly lowers the temperatures and allows the CPU to boost for a long time.

Question, if it's the same why would I need to reinstall it? Are there differences it will find between 3800x and 5800x3d?

Windows tends to get confused and install drivers from the repository instead of the latest ones that were installed with the previous CPU, I found that out in multiple CPU upgrades over the years, at home and at work. The last time was when I upgraded from the 5900X to the 5800X3D.

Hmm alright, so you're saying the power plan I'm currently using is meant for my 3800x and not my 5800X3D? So that could cause some issues I'm assuming?

Strange I installed the driver again and now my ryzen power plans are gone?

Those are relics from a bygone era. Not needed.

I mean, you could install the 1usmus Ryzen power plan if you'd like. But the Windows scheduler was fixed.
