If we couldn't do this at the very least then star citizen would not be worthy of the title "space sim"

Of course we should be able to drift in different directions. Todays spacecraft can already do that

Thrusters! that's the word i was looking for... I was going to write something similar but i couldn't for the life of me remember what the hell thrusters were called in english...

 You wouldn't need the thrusters... And there is gravity (If you're anywhere near a planet).

I know that. All I'm saying is that saying you can drift in space is like saying people can drift because they can walk sideways.

That's called geostationary orbiting.

But you'd need to change your whole orbit to do that.

I think this is more of... creeping and less of drifting.
