Having issues with GPU usage

I'm having an issue in some games (Dark Souls III, GTA V...) where my GPU usage is quite low therefore I'm getting low fps even though my hardware should have no issue running these games.

My specs:

GTX 1650 Super GDDR6

AMD Ryzen 5 2600

2x8GB DDR4 RAM

 

I've updated my graphics drivers multiple times to no avail, I would greatly appreciate some help on this.

The single-core performance of that CPU is not great per modern-day standards. But let's assume that's not it.

 

Are you using the latest motherboard Bios?

Latest AMD chipset drivers?

I don't know which board you have (haven't mentioned it), but sure, if there's a Bios update you should use the latest.

 

As for the chipset driver, did you download it from AMD or the old one from the motherboard manufacturer?

Yes. BIOS update not only helps with compatibility, but also stability and performance.

 

Download drivers from AMD instead from motherboard manufacturer's site, since it's an old board, the maker may no longer actively supporting it.

 

Speaking of drivers, I would suggest try DDU to uninstall your display driver. And install latest driver. Sometimes drivers update can go wrong.

 

On the other hand low GPU performance usually mean CPU bottleneck (or you didn't turn on game setting to higher ones). How low was your GPU load?
