Hi, I am new to this forums, and I am glad being here.

I bought EVGA 780ti K|ngp|n Edition, and I want to upgrade my Motherboard/CPU and Ram, so please I would like your recommendation, both in case of overclocking or non-overclocking configuration, with maximum to allow two SLI cards.

Because I like EVGA, I am looking at the EVGA Z97 FTW, and EVGA Z87 FTW, but any other brand is good as well. Are these motherboards good? Is there better you can recommend?

While the EVGA Z87 boards were better than EVGA's first stilted and weak forays into the motherboard market during the Zwhateverbloomfieldchipsetwascalled, Z68 and Z77 era, I still wouldn't trust them for a while as we have no data on longevity/ lasting through and beyond warranty. I would look at more reputable partners for a while yet, if you plan on using the board to its capabilities in regards to overclocking and PCIe lanes.

Then again, I'm super careful like that. And EVGA's very first boards were truly atrocious.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

i'd prefer an MSI M-Power, because it is just Made to go with The kIngpIn, both optimized for Extreme OCing

Budget is under 900$, Location outside USA, I build all my systems, I just like other opinions.

If you're upgrading, it would help to know your current specs and what the system's being used for.

You need to quote a post or tag a member or else they won't get a notification you replied to them.

Now I am using:

- ASUS P6X58D Premium - LGA 1366 - X58 - DDR3 - USB 3.0 SATA 6 Gb/s - ATX Motherboard.

- Intel Core i7 Processor i7-930 2.80GHz 8 MB LGA1366 CPU (Cooled with (Thermalright Venomous X - Processor heatsink - ( Socket 775, Socket 1156, Socket 1366 ) - copper with nickel-plating finish).

- Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D Dominator 6 GB 3 x 2 GB PC3-12800 1600MHz 240-Pin DDR3 Core i7 Memory Kit.

- EVGA GeForce 780 ti (old one was EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Superclocked 1536 MB GDDR5 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card (Cooled with THERMALRIGHT SHAMAN 8X 6MM HEATPIPES GPU HEATSINK)).

My aim is to get PCI-Express 3 motherboard to go along with my new GeForce 780ti, its a jump from 4GB/Sec to 8/GB/sec, the x58 chipset support pcie 2 only, so I would have to get CPU+Motherboard, but I still can use the rest if compatible and save money.

I think the memory is compatible with the new motherboard, the CPU heatsink do support LGA 1155, and both 1155 and 1150 use same motherboard CPU mounting holes.

If someone can tell me if I will benefit much from pcie 3 in compare to pcie 2, and if worth it really to go to new pcie 3 motherboard.

No point in upgrading. Gpus have yet to fully saturate pci-e 2.0 x16.
