Gigabyte M1022 Laptop in 2023?

I got an old Gigabyte M1022 Laptop, specs listed below, and I am planning to give it to a 6 year old for their online class. He'll mostly use it for Zoom meetings, viewing PDF and MS PowerPoint files, and writing reports in MS Word or Google Docs.

Specs:

• CPU: Intel Atom N280

• RAM: 1x2GB

• GPU: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

• Storage: 250GB HDD (plan to upgrade to SSD)

• OS: Windows 10 32-bit

Questions:

• Is the laptop good enough or will it not work?

• I got some SSDs lying around: a 250GB WD SA510 and a 240GB Crucial BX500, which SSD should I install? I guess the only difference is that the WD has a DRAM cache, while the Crucial don't. Would a DRAM cache make a difference (given the fact that its only SATA2 and the laptop's old)?

I'd just install the WD one

It cant run zoom

These can barelt load websites at this point.

It cant run a modern os without running at 100% doing nothing.

This is basically a pc with the power of a 20 year old budget system. It also has NO supported media acceleration and devices 10x faster than it can barely do what you want it to do.

As @jaslion said I might just get a cheap laptop from walmart or newegg

I'll try booting it up and see if it works

Dont get that one.

It uses emmc storage of a very slow variety which locks up windows a ton.

Thr cpu is not properly cooled and runs at 1ghz or less when any load happens making this unuseable.

If op want to get a laptop for 200 or less a used one is really thr only option to not get a crap device.

8th gen intel hp probooks are readilt available for that price and solid.

I think there's a version that runs on EMMC, but mine runs on SATA.

The CPU is running at about 1GHz - 1.2GHz, maybe more (didn't really monitor Task Manager). I installed Windows 10 (v1703), and so far its running ok, but I haven't connected to the internet yet, nor install any Windows updates.

Just to be clear, I am not purchasing the laptop, I just have it lying around, so I was thinking of upgrading it and giving it away.

I guess a 6 year old taking an online class won't multitask, they would only be in a Zoom meeting? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Usually they need to also go on a site or something like that to do something.

But try a zoom meet it wont work well at all with video because a laptop 10x the power that is sold today still (dual core celerons) can barely do it.

Would running Linux with a lightweight distro help? Such as LXLE (based on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS) and Lubuntu (based on Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS)
