Budget (including currency): $400 - $650 (edit: USD, sorry, almost forgot!)

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming at 1080p 165hz (I don't plan to upgrade to 1440p or 4k, but I'd like to consistently reach 165fps on the majority of games)- with titles as Spider-Man remastered and ML (hence, it has to be an NVIDIA GPU). I use Linux, with Pop OS being my daily drive.

Other details My current build consists on:

  • Aerocool Bolt RGB (I use the included fan, and the included CPU fan, should I invest on another fan? I get 50-60°C using basic programs)
  • Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce Gtx 1660 Super OC 6G
  • Ddr4 8Gb 3000Mhz Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 (16GB in total)
  • Motherboad Asus A320m-K Am4
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2Ghz Wraith Stealth
  • PSU Azza 550w 80+ Bronze

Disks:

  • SSD 240 Gb Gigabyte Sata III GP-GSTF
  • Samsung SSD 870 EVO 500GB
  • HDD 1 Tb WD Sata III 64Mb/s Blue
  • HDD 2Tb Seagate Sata III Barracuda

What do I think to upgrade

  • GIGABYTE - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0
  • AMD - Ryzen 5 5600X 4th Gen 6-core, 12-threads Unlocked Desktop Processor With Wraith Stealth Cooler
  • CORSAIR - VENGEANCE LPX 32GB (2PK x 16GB) 3600MHz DDR4 C18 DIMM Desktop Memory
  • Samsung - 970 EVO Plus 1TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe

Are these components reasonable to upgrade to? As an example, I added the CPU because I thought my actual CPU would have some bottleneck with the new GPU. Should I invest more on the GPU? All advice is appreciated, thanks! 🙂

I might go for the r5 5600 non X version as they are usually cheaper but basically the same performance. Also I would usually prioritize a gpu upgrade over a platform upgrade if the cpu is decent but because you can just get the 5600 without having to get a new motherboard then I would say your current upgrade plan is good especially because it would be a pretty balanced build.

Regardless of what you do replace that psu. It's a known pc killer unit. A quality psu isn't too much.

Really? Now I'm scared, lol. I've been using it for 3 years, but there have been some isolated cases where it turned off. Any recommendations on a good PSU?
Edit: is the COOLER MASTER 650W MWE V2 80+ Gold a good choice? I found it for a decent price, and it seems good.

Id argue the M.2 is a bit of just a "just because" rather than genuine attempt to consolidate storage. Id go for the 2TB.

Thank you so much! These are great recommendations. However, I wanted to ask two questions:

  • Would the Ryzen 5 3600 that I already have work without too much bottleneck alongside the new GPU? Because I thought I could save with the CPU and go with a bigger SSD.
  • Is the COOLER MASTER 650W MWE V2 80+ Gold a good choice for the power supply?

Nope, at 1080p you'd want the CPU upgrade yesterday. The 5600 is performing basically the same against the 5600X, Zen 3 XFR is comparatively tame to the Zen 4.

At what cost? Its good unit but at its new price right now? The PM750 i point out would be better.
